Moves Electrical Equipment

to Algeria for ABB

When L&T Construction needed to ship large
electrical equipment from Italy to Algeria, they
came to GEODIS for help. The project was a
reconstruction and rehabilitation of an electricity
network in inland Algeria. L&T first made con-
tact with GEODIS UAE. The UAE team then con-
tacted GEODIS IP Italy and GEODIS IP Algeria to
run the project.
Two shipments in September and October were
used to move 12 multifunctional modules fixed
on mobile trailers from Italy to the inland site in
Algeria’s Hassi Berkine Basin. The total shipment
from manufacturer Hitachi ABB Power Grids Italy
Spa weighed 947 metric tonnes with a size of
over 3,000 cubic metres. The individual trailers
were over 4 metres high, and ranged in length
from 12 to 20 metres.
